Major Drug Bust in McDowell County

On the morning of Friday, February 23, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug activity, authorities with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshal Service raided Carly Rachel Beam’s residence at 24 Pinnacle Heights in Nebo. All three suspects were in the house that morning. A search by officers and K-9s turned up 591.7 grams of methamphetamine, 71 Oxycodone pills, more than $25,000 in cash and five firearms.

Detective Patrick Guion of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Carly Rachel Beam, 40, of 24 Pinnacle Heights in Nebo, with two counts each of possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance and one count each of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking opium or heroin and possession of methamphetamine.

      

Guion also charged 35-year-old Deana Marie McKinney, of 33 Fairview Park in Marion, with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and trafficking methamphetamine and 37-year-old Olen Alonza McKinney II, of 24 Pinnacle Heights in Nebo, with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance.

Additional arrests and charges are pending.
