Mike Brown Ford Subaru of Spruce Pine closed its doors permanently Monday, April 9th. According to the Mitchell News Journal owner Mike Brown issued the following statement, “After great consideration, we have regretfully made the decision to close Mike Brown Ford-Subaru in Spruce Pine,” he said….”At the root of our decision is the continued steady decline in the business environment and uncertainty regarding his health, Brown said. Following a health issue in early 2015, there continue to be more questions than answers as to a long-term solution,” he said. “My focus going forward has to be on my health and family.”
Mike Brown bought the dealership in early 2014 from Don Smith Ford Subaru. Brown extensively remodeled the dealership at that time, redecorating the building and repaving the lot. Brown put considerable money into building the dealership with promotions, advertising and community involvement the first couple of years. Recently there had been rumors that he was moving the dealership to McDowell County.
