The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office has had numerous reports of counterfeit bills circulating in the area. The bills are marked as $20 dollar bills. They have “replica” printed on the front of the currency and it states on the bill that “This note is not legal. It is to be used for motion pictures.” The Sheriff’s Office has made one arrest in connection with a subject attempting to pass these bills as real money.
