Yancey County Superior Court Information Release

PUBLIC INFORMATION RELEASE

During the Superior Court session held in Yancey County on May 29,2018 there were five felony convictions resulting from investigations conducted and referred by the Yancey county Sheriff Office.

Jamie Smith Deyton was convicted of Possession of Methamphetamine and found to be a Habitual Felon. Deyton was on probation at the time of these charges, her probation was revoked and ordered  to serve balance of that sentence as well. Deyton was sentenced to serve a total of 46 to 76 month to be served concurrently  in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

Susan Lorraine Duke was convicted of Assault with Physical Injury to Law Enforcement, Probation,or Parole Officer and Possession of Methamphetamine. Duke was sentenced to an active intermediate punishment  of 120 days in custody of the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and 12 to 34 months in custody of the North Carolina Department  of Adult Correction,this  is suspended and Duke will serve 48 months on probation upon her completion of the 120 days.

Andrew Jason Hyatt was convicted of Felony Breaking and or Entering and found to be a Habitual Felon. Hyatt was sentenced to serve an active sentence of 51to 74 months in the custody of the North Carolina Department  of Adult Corrections.

Deanne Monroe was convicted of 2 counts of Possession with intent to Manufacture,Sale,and Distribute Schedule II Controlled Substance and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle, Dwelling, or Place for the use of Controlled Substances. Munroe was sentenced to an active sentence consecutively totaling 18-51months in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.

Trey Peterson was convicted of violating his probation  on the charges of Attempted Trafficking by Possession of Opium and Attempted Trafficking by Transporting of Opium. Peterson was sentenced to an active sentence of 19-32 months in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.
