Small Earthquake Tremor – update

Two small earthquakes were recorded in Western North Carolina on Sunday evening.  No damage was reported from either one.

One was recorded as a 2.7 magnitude event 6 kilimoters from Bakersville at 7:56pm, with a recorded depth of 2 kilometers. The other occurred at 8:16pm and was listed as 2.0 magnitude and about 1 kilometer from Hays, North Carolina with a depth of 9 kilometers.

North Carolina has its share of small earthquakes, but large, damaging seismic events are uncommon.
