South Toe Community Break and Entering Investigation Ongoing

The ongoing breaking and entering investigations into no less than twelve homes and out buildings in the Rock Creek area of the South Toe community has resulted in three arrest to date. This was made possible by an exhaustive surveillance effort by Deputies culminating with a suspect being apprehended in the act of breaking and entering a residence.  These thefts covered a span of time from early January this year through mid March.  Three trucks and a loaded rollback of personal property have been recovered with an estimated value of $100,000.00.  Most of which was recovered from the Nix Creek and Old Fort areas of McDowell County.

The three suspects arrested are Ernest Allen Rumfelt, William Marshall Bates, and Jonathan Wayne Roland all of McDowell County.

Ernest Allen Rumfelt was arrested on March 12th and is scheduled to appear in Yancey District Court on June 28th, 2018.  Rumfelt currently has 39 charges total in Yancey County.  Rumfelt’s charges are 12 charges of felony Breaking and or Entering, 9 charges of felony Larceny after Breaking and or Entering,  9 charges of felony Possession of Stolen Goods/Property, 5 charges of misdemeanor Injury to Real Property,  2 charges of misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property, 1 charge of felony Attempted Breaking and or Entry of a Building, and 1 charge of felony Possession of Burglary Tools.

William Bates

William Marshall Bates was arrested on May 13th and is scheduled to appear in Yancey District Court on June 28th, 2018.  Rumfelt currently has 37 charges total in Yancey County.  Bates’ charges are 11 charges of felony Breaking and or Entering, 9 charges of felony Larceny after Breaking and or Entering, 9 charges of felony Possession of Stolen Goods/Property, 4 charges of misdemeanor Injury to Real Property,  3 charges of misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property, 1 charge of felony Attempted Breaking and or Entry of a Building.

Jonathan Roland

Jonathan Wayne Roland was arrested on March 15th and is scheduled to appear in Yancey District Court on June 28th, 2018.  Roland is currently charged in Yancey County with 1 charge of felony Breaking and or Entering and awaiting a scheduled District Court appearance on June 28th, 2018.  Roland also has a charge of felony Probation Violation in McDowell County.
