Mountains and Rhododendron


Such a beautiful time of the year with the rhododendron blooming.
Some people claim there aren't any "big cats" in our area...here's proof from the camera of Phil Byrd. This bobcat was seen at Punkin Patch Mountain in Mitchell County.  One was also spotted crossing Hwy 80 South in Yancey County last year.
The dogwoods have been beautiful this year! Calvin Campbell (the Peanut Man) captured this pretty pink one in his yard.

Ha ha....one construction zone ends and another begins! That's how Burnsville looks these days...but just remember when all is done we are going to have some beautiful new roads! Also watch out for workmen, other drivers and those orange barrels!

Lightning Storm

The wind was not cooperative on Halloween for the Pumpkin Bridge on Seven Mile Ridge Road, causing some of the candles to go out, but with pumpkins lined the full length of the bridge on both sides this yearly ritual has become an outstanding display of creativity and artwork.  (more)
