Banks Receives Golden Elephant Award

The Eleventh Congressional  District  Republican Party recently held its Golden Elephant Awards Banquet at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Fletcher. This year's recipient from Yancey County was Sheriff Kermit Banks. Banks is a longtime fixture in Yancey County Republicans politics.

The award is presented to longtime, hard-working, grassroots Republicans. One  nominee from  each  county  in  the Eleventh  District  is  honored.  Nominations  are made  by the County Republican Parties.

Congressman  Mark Meadows presented the Awards and was the Keynote Speaker at the Dinner.   Also in attendance  was Senior  Associate  Justice  Bob Edmunds  of the North Carolina Supreme Court.

According to David Sawyer, Chairman of the Eleventh District Republican Party, "We are very proud of tonight's winners. Through their work and dedication to the Party, its ideology and principles, they have been instrumental in the Party's  efforts to elect Republicans  at all levels of government. We salute them and are honored to have them with us tonight."
