Details: Bertie Campbell Ledford of The Buladean Community went home to Heaven on May 21st.
She was born in Buladean on July 12, 1923 to Jane Oakes Campbell and George Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Ledford, a daughter Virginia Byrd Phillips, a brother, Warren Campbell, sisters; Goldie Campbell and Beulah Barnett.
Survivors include; a son Charles Ledford (Stella), of Charlotte, NC, daughters; Lois Bennett (Herbert), of Green Mountain, NC, Wanda Sue Osborne (Richard), of Boone, NC, Mary McKinney (Keith), of Spruce Pine, NC, and Tantha Bennett, of Buladean, NC, one sister; Mildred Sheets, of Buladean, NC, one brother; T. M. Campbell (Madeline), of Buladean, NC, twelve grandchildren; Kimberly Oxendine, Angela Gilstrap, Jimmy Lee Byrd, Cheryl Byrd, Rachel Lewis, Tammy Peek, John Bennett, Jason Bennett, Chris Osborne, and Jennifer Osborne, and twenty one great grandchildren.
Bertie was a lifelong member of Roans Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Buladean where she was Custodian for many years. She was also an honorary member of Emmaus Road BaptistChurch in Spruce Pine, NC.
Services to celebrate her life will be held Friday, May 23, 2014at 7:00PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Luther Carver officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00AM at The Campbell Cemetery.
