Betty Ray Stiles, age 83, of the Banks Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 at her home.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Bascomb Hannan and Annie Lee Robinson Ray. In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded by brothers: Marion Ray, Francis Ray, Elzie Ray and Carl Ray as well as a sister, Ruth Ray.
Betty worked at Glen Raven for over 30 years. She was a member of Banks Creeks Bible Church and was adored by all the children there. She was a woman of strong faith who loved God and will be remembered as a Prayer Warrior. Betty was an avid gardener and a loving wife, mother and beloved GRANDMOTHER.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Bobby Cecil Stiles; sons, Bobby D. Stiles and wife, Teresa, of Burnsville and Ed D. Stiles and wife, Broma, of Burnsville; beloved grandchildren: Chris Stiles and wife, Jessie, of Spring Hill, TN, Adam Stiles of Florence, SC, and Alerie Stiles of Raleigh, NC. Several special nieces and nephews also survive, as well as many cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 21st in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Steve Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cane River Baptist Church Cemetery.
