Break-Ins Solved

A joint investigation between Mitchell and McDowell County Sheriff’s departments solves numerous break-ins and recovered thousands of dollars of stolen property in three counties.
The following individuals were arrested in connection with the investigation; 31 year old Natalie Marie Houston, of 31 Kings Lane, Newland, 34 year old Joshua William Honeycutt, of Marion, 49 year old Pamela Deneen Lawing, of 1216 Tempie Mountain Road,  Spruce Pine and 49 year old Gene Gary Street, of 1216 Tempie Mountain Road, Spruce Pine.
In the past few months several homes in the Little Switzerland area of Mitchell and McDowell Counties have been broken into. The majority of these homes were homes real estate companies in the area had listed for sale. Taken from these homes were household items such as lamps, antiques, towels, electronics, flat screen televisions, items which could be sold quickly at Flea Markets.
The homes that were offered by the real estate company had been entered without force, indicating someone had the code or keys to the lock boxes. The arrests were made after an informant tipped off authorities. At least 10 homes in Yancey, Mitchell, Avery and McDowell counties were robbed.
