Details: Bronis C. Phillips, age 80, of the Bald Mountain Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Coy and Josie Edwards Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Avie Bradford and two grandsons: John Daniel Phillips and Jeremy Shane Phillips. Bronis was a farmer who attended Landmark Baptist Church and loved being in the woods, hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years, Genevieve Fender Phillips; two daughters: Sonja Russell of Marion and Pat Black and husband, Gene, of Shelby; two sons: Jupper Phillips and Cash Phillips and wife, Patsy, all of Bald Mountain; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 22nd at Landmark Baptist Church. Revs. David Bryant, Burl Ledford will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Phillips Family Cemetery on Riddle Branch.
