25th Annual Burnsville Metric

April 27, 2019

| $45

Now in its 25th year, the Burnsville Metric ushers in cycling season Saturday, April 27, with a beautiful ride through the Yancey County countryside, good food, local beer and a welcoming community. The 60.7-mile route begins and ends on Town Square. Riders pass through the communities of Huntdale, Green Mountain, Jack’s Creek and Pensacola before circling back to Burnsville. A 43-mile option is available for less experienced riders.  With well-known scenic routes, such as the Blue Ridge Parkway and N.C. Highway 80 along the Toe River, Yancey County has become a destination for cyclists from up and down the East Coast. The area’s low population density and cooler temperatures contribute to its appeal.  Homeplace Beer Company, just off of Town Square, hosts a post-ride party with craft beer and a food truck. Participants receive a special edition pint glass as a keepsake. Three well-supplied rest stops are located along the route, and roving support-and-gear (SAG) vehicles patrol the course.

Early registration by April 15 is $45 and $35 for students. After April 15, the cost for all riders is $55. Day-of registration and packet pickup take place at Burnsville Town Center from 7:15 a.m. till 8:45 a.m. The ride begins at 9 a.m.
