Claudine Peterson Arrowood, age 89, of Jacks Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 25th, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Claude Peterson and Mafra Bell Bailey Peterson Fox. Her father, Claude, passed away when she was one year old and her mother married her step-father, Oscar Fox, who she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim Arrowood, who passed away in 1982; sisters: Virginia Lee Thompson, Mary Sue Garland, Bernice Arnold and Shirley Fox; infant brother, Sonny Boy Fox and brother, Bill Fox.
Claudine grew up attending Borings Chapel, but later attended Unity Baptist Church for a number of years. She was a strong supporter and advocate of St. Jude's Children's Hospital and loved attending the Senior Center. Claudine will always be remembered as loving everyone, especially her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving is her daughter, Louise Ballard of the home; sisters: Lola Bradford and Betty Jean Tipton, both of Mine Fork; brothers: James Fox and wife, Mona, and Phillip Fox and wife, Polly, all of Mine Fork and a special friend, Wanda Bryant. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Rick Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in the McCurry-Arrowood Cemetery on Jacks Creek. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services.
