County Takes Buladean School to Sell to Foundation

A resolution passed last week by the Mitchell County Commissioners will allow the board to sell the old Buladean School property back to the community. The resolution authorizes the county to take the former K-8 school from the Mitchell Board of Education and sell it to the nonprofit Buleadean Community Foundation for the sum of $100. Since the closing of the school in 2012 the building has been maintained as the school system worked to sell off both Buladean and Tipton Hill Schools. Tipton Hill was sold to the Bradshaw Fire Department last fall and now Buladean will also go back to the community which it has served for many years. The school board is expected to finalize the transfer of the property during its August 11th meeting.
