Dish Network may drop WLOS

A dispute between Sinclair Broadcast Group — owner of WLOS/Channel 13 — and Dish Network could mean a blackout beginning Tomorrow of the local ABC affiliate for customers of that satellite service.  Sinclair and Dish are locked in a fight over retransmission fees — the money paid to stations by pay-TV providers. The dispute only involves Dish subscribers. Customers of Direct TV, Charter or other pay-TV services will not be affected.  Sinclair has 70 TV stations in 45 U.S. cities that could be blacked out, including WLOS and WMYA/Channel 40, which also operates from Asheville and is carried by satellite and cable.  The WLOS channel 13 news at 6pm is heard daily Monday through Friday on 940- WKYK. That news cast will also not be affected by the Dish Network disagreement.
