Detail: Frances Carroll Briggs of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 4th at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Alice Henson Carroll and wife of the late Charlie Briggs. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Predith Bradshaw and Edna Aylor; brothers: Lee and Grason Carroll and son-in-law, Carroll Silvers.
She attended Red Hill Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed canning and tending flower gardens. Her children and grandchildren were her life.
Surviving are her daughters: Carolyn Robinson and husband, Ed, of Mars Hill, Margie Reel and husband, Harlan, of Marion and Maude Silvers of Green Mountain; son, Ray Briggs and wife, Wilma, of Burnsville; sisters: Mary Lou Carroll of Burnsville and Myrtle Ingle of Taylorsville; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Billy Jo Mitchell and Rev. James Beaver will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pete Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
