Details: Gloria Jean Gill of Burnsville, North Carolina was taken home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26th after a long courageous battle. She was born on March 28, 1946 in Asheville, NC.
From an early age, Gloria was an adventurer. She’s travelled throughout the United States and even spent time in Africa with the United States Peace Corp. When Gloria returned from Africa she married Howard (Skip) Gill. Skip & Gloria moved to the Burnsville area 22 years ago and have enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Gloria was an avid cook, gardener and fisherwoman. She loved being outdoors and loving on her grandchildren. She never met a stranger
She was blessed to have 3 children, 1 stepson, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving father, Clarence Allen; mother, Virginia Allen; beloved daughter, Marlena Dawn O’sullivan; brothers: Larry Allen & Mark Allen. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Rick O’sullivan & Mark O’sullivan; as well as a daughter Kelly (John) Freeman and a step son, Lloyd Gill; four sisters: Linda Conley (Richard), Barbara (Rex) Ingle, Mary Roper-Witt (Jerry) and Darlene Pressley (Donald) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church.
