The Yancey County Board of Elections has announced that based on the efforts of the citizens of Green Mountain precinct the voting house has now been brought up to compliance with American Disability Act standards and thus can now be used for voting.  October 12th is the deadline for regular voter registration. October 18th is the day Early Voting and Same-Day Registration begins.  One stop voting which begins October 18th will be held in Yancey County at the Board of Elections Office in Burnsville from 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Fridays and on Saturday November 3rd from 9 to 1 pm. One stop voting in Mitchell County will be at the Board of Elections office in Bakersville and at Town Hall in Spruce Pine from 8 to 5 Monday through Fridays and 8 to 1 on Saturday November 3rd. Absentee Ballot requests are due October 30th and are due at the respective County Board of Elections office on November 5th.
