Pet lovers mark your calendar for the first Pet Fest to be held July 28 from 10AM to 6PM, at Banner Elk Elementary School lawn. There’s something for everyone; vendors, entertainment by The Purina’s Incredible Dog Team, guest speakers from groomers to veterinarians and a dog show that you can enter your prized pooch in. Who knows you may even win first prize, a years worth of Darford dog food. High County local restaurants and individuals are graciously sponsoring a Pies for Pets sale with all proceeds going directly to Avery County Humane Society. Restaurants or individuals interested in donating apple, blueberry or peach pies for sale should contact Erika Siegel at (828) 898-5625 for further information. Pies will be sold at the festival for $25 and will be available for pick up that day.
