Dr. Dan Barron, Director, Avery-Mitchell-Yancey Regional Library. was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Spruce Pine on Dec. 22 providing information about the "Voices of the Valley" historical account of Mitchell County. The book is a labor of love for the 150th anniversary of Mitchell County written by Elizabeth Hunter. The Mitchell County Historic Courthouse Foundation is the project sponsor and all proceeds raised will go to this foundation for efforts towards economic development, education and cultural needs of Mitchell County. The club members were very interested in this project and look forward to the book which will be published in the Spring on 2012.
