Hospice of Yancey County Addresses Merger Rumors

Hospice of Yancey County has recently addressed concerns by persons in the community about the possibility of a merger with other area hospices. According to Hospice of Yancey’s Executive Director Eddie Faw, “It has come to our attention that there are rumors in the community concerning the health and future of Hospice of Yancey County.  We want to assure you that our Hospice continues to offer the same dedicated, compassionate care we have always been proud to provide.  Financially, we have the same concerns that all other health care providers are facing.  We, like other providers, are conscientiously looking at cost saving measures that will not negatively impact patient care.  In other words, we are being good stewards of every reimbursement dollar, as well as, moneys accrued through donations and fund raising”. He went on to say, “We do not have a crystal ball with which to predict the future, but at this time there are absolutely no plans to merge with another hospice or health care provider.  We are financially stable and, with the continued support of our community,  plan to be here to continue to provide trusted care to our community and surrounding communities for years to come”.
