Details: John T Mooney, age 88, of Johnson City, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. He was the son of the late William T. and Nora Hicks Mooney. He retired from Black and Decker Tool Company in Hampstead, MD after 36 years of service. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Milligan Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his sisters: Agnes Francis, Mae Moffitt, Katheryn Spiridonof, and Margaret Mooney; brothers: Howard, Harry Eugene and Albert (A.D.) Mooney.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Teague Mooney of the home; one sister, Sue Moffitt of Clinton, TN; one brother, William T. Mooney Jr of Hanover, PA; stepchildren: Terry Moffitt and wife Bessie and Linda Shell and husband Lawrence all of Bakersville, NC; step grandchildren: Mike Shell and wife Melanie and George "Robbie" Moffitt all of Bakersville; step great-grandchildren, Shanda Shell and Skyler Shell and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, July 27th, 2014 at 8:00 pm in the Milligan Freewill Baptist Church, 1471 Milligan Highway, Johnson City, TN. Rev. Kevin Lewis will officiate. Music will be provided by Joel Street. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Washington County Memorial Gardens at 11:00 am on Monday, July 28th, 2014.
