Details: Joyce Ollis of Dale Road in Spruce Pine, the Grassy Creek Community, died on Saturday, February 23rd at her home.

Born on September 21, 1942 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Purtle and Lizzie Hollifield Biddix. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ollis who passed away in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Dennis Biddix and wife, Wilma; Daniel Biddix; and her sister; Betty Jane Ollis.
Mrs. Ollis was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Joyce Ollis is survived by her sons; Joe Ollis and wife, Lynn and Ben Ollis and wife, Cindy all of Spruce Pine; her daughters; Jania Ollis and Judy Ledford both of Spruce Pine; her brother-in-law; Billy Ollis of Spruce Pine; her sister-in-law; Claudine Biddix of Spruce Pine; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
The funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Ollis will be conducted on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 8:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Matt Mills and Joe Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church. Graveside services and interment will be at 11:00 am; Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in the Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to say, “Thank You” to the staff of Hospice of Yancey County for their care of Joyce during her illness.
