Details: After living a devoted life for her Lord and Savior, 82 year old Mary Grady Young passed away peacefully on February 6th. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Emmett Young; brother, Jimmy Grady of Morganton, NC; sisters: Juanita Grove of Candler, FL and Dorothy Culbreath of Columbia, SC; also numerous loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Carrie Grady; brothers: Wayne Grady and Gray Murray; sisters: Hazel Grady and Faye Pucket.
     Mary was born in Morganton, NC on September 18th, 1930 where she grew up among countless childhood friends. She later moved to Maryland where she was employed by the Glenn L. Martin Company. This is where she met and fell in love with her husband, James Emmett Young. Later she worked with her sister, Juanita, in a hair salon in Maryland. After moving to Bakersville, she became an active member of Roan Mountain Missionary Baptist. Mary loved her family, her church family and her neighbors. Additionally, children and animals sensed her tender spirit and flocked to her and she to them.
     Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 10th, 2013 in the Roan Mtn. Missionary Baptist Church with Mark McKinney and Tim Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the Green-Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials  may be made to Roan Mtn. Missionary Baptist  Church.
