Mitchell Commissioners Pass Gun Resolutions

As the national debate on gun control heats up, the Mitchell County Commissioners voted to confirm their commitment to the Second Amendment and the right of their citizens to keep and bear arms when they passed two resolutions concerning guns at a recent meeting. The first resolution opposed more stringent gun control and stated their opposition to any state or federal legislation that would alter or go further than existing firearm laws already on the books while the second resolution was directed at the North Carolina General Assembly to encourage legislation that would exempt handgun purchase permits and concealed carry permits from the records of the sheriff’s offices that are accessible by the public at large. Mitchell County Sheriff Donald Street thanked the commissioners for pushing ahead with the resolution and vowed his full support.
