Mitchell High Junior Crowned Miss Asheville Outstanding Teen



Chloe Hollifield, a 14-year old Freshman from Mitchell High School was crowned Miss Asheville's Outstanding Teen 2014 at the 8th annual PageantSaturday at the Colonial Theatre in Canton, NC. She is the daughter of Damien and Amanda Hollifield of Spruce Pine. She was crowned by Brynna Sinyard of Waynesville, Miss Asheville's Outstanding Teen 2013. The competition included a private interview as well as competitions for fitness, talent, evening wear and an on-stage question. Her service platform included Get Up & Get Active. The 5-5 green-eyed brunette tied for Overall Fitness with her sister queen crowned during the competition, Miss Blue Ridge Valley's Outstanding Teen 2014, Kaitlyn Karcher of Webster. During her reign as Miss Asheville's Outstanding Teen she will prepare and compete in the Miss North Carolina's Outstanding Teen Pageant in Raleigh in June 2014. The Miss North Carolina Outstanding Teen will then compete in the 94th Miss America Outstanding Teen Pageant held in Orlando, Florida. As Miss Asheville's Outstanding Teen, Hollifield will take part in community service projects as well as participating in fundraising for the Miss America Organization’s charitable work on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network. Other winners of the night included: Kellie Pittman of Bakersville crowned Miss Blue Ridge Valley 2014 by Tori Hunter, Miss Blue Ridge Valley 2013. Katie Fiore of Swannanoa crowned Miss Asheville 2014 by Katie Knowles, Miss Asheville 2013. Kaitlyn Karcher of Webster crowned Miss Blue Ridge Valley's Outstanding Teen 2014 by Jessica Clifford, Miss Blue Ridge Valley's Outstanding Teen 2013. Miss Asheville and Miss Blue Ridge Valley are the only recognized preliminary titles within the Miss America Organization for the mountains of North Carolina. Beth Knox, State Director for Miss North Carolina was a honored guest at the pageant and Michelle Lee, owner of Centre Stage in Asheville was presented with the Woman of Achievement Award for her continued dedication to empowering WNC women throughout the years. Kelli Brown Mullinix, Miss Asheville 1996 sang the National Anthem, Kristi Harding Wheatly, Miss Blue Ridge Valley 1985 sang Amazing Grace and The Carolina Princesses, Outstanding Little Miss Courts, and Kristen Morgan, Miss Hendersonville 2010 provided entertainment along with the dancers from Releve Performing Arts Center in Hendersonville, NC. Radio 880 am host Jeff Messer from Waynesville served as Master of Ceremonies along with Nicole Ledford, Miss Asheville 2007.
