On May 1st of this year, Blue Ridge Parkway Superintendent Mark Woods announced that a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway near the entrance to Mt. Mitchell State Park was once again open for travel.
With this section open, the full 469 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway is available to travel without interruption. Most areas became fully operational last Friday.
From back country trails and camping, to favorite picnic areas and full service concession operations, the Parkway offers visitors a wealth of opportunities to experience the scenic beauty and natural and cultural heritage of the southern Appalachian region.
