The Box Office at the historic Parkway Playhouse has opened for the 2014 Parkway Playhouse Season, which runs from April through the end of September and includes 6 Mainstage productions, several classes and camps for students and youth, and 3 productions presented by the students from Parkway Playhouse Jr.
Box Office hours at Parkway Playhouse for 2014 are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. The box office will also open for ticket sales one hour before curtain time of each scheduled performance. The auditorium will open for seating 30 minutes prior to the start of each performance.
Box Office personnel will be on hand to assist with purchasing tickets and memberships to the theatre, as well as registering students interested in one of the many classes and camps offered. People who are interested in volunteering to be a Playhouse Docent, work on one of the production crews (building scenery, creating props, finding costumes, and more) should also call the Box Office.
Information about tickets, performances, and other information is also available on the theatre’s website: www.parkwayplayhouse.com.
The historic Parkway Playhouse Theatre is located at 202 Green Mountain Drive in Burnsville, and is adjacent to the Yancey County Library, the Mountain Heritage Center, and the Old Burnsville Gym. Parkway Playhouse held its first season of theatre in 1947 and has become one of the most vigorously busy theatre companies in Western North Carolina with productions ranging from world-premieres of locally written plays, like this season’s Ghost Riders; an adaptation of New York Times Bestselling Author, Sharyn McCrumb, which is set in the Appalachians during and after the Civil War; to theatrical favorites like Rodgers and Hammerstein’s magnificent The King and I; to classics, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the last Mainstage show of the season.
Parkway Playhouse will also be presenting the Burnsville Little Theatre’s production of Harvey, by Mary Chase, on April 25, 26 and 27. Tickets for this production are available at Parkway Playhouse’s box office and website, as well as from members of the Burnsville Little Theatre Group.
Parkway Playhouse’s administrative office is open Tuesday through Wednesday from 10am -4 pm and is located on the second floor of the Mountain Heritage Center.
