Mars Hill University Hosts Ash Wednesday Service

Mars Hill University hosted an ecumenical Ash Wednesday service on March 1, 2017, at Broyhill Chapel. Preaching, Praying and Singing Every Tuesday

Everyone is invited to enjoy preaching, praying and singing every Tuesday night at 7:00pm at Woodland Hills Apartments in Burnsville.

Church Yard Sale:

Shoal Creek Baptist Church will be having a church-wide yard sale Saturday April 29th from 7:30am-12 noon.  All proceeds will to to benefit the Prayer Shawl Ministry of the church. The church is located on Highway 19E just East of East Yancey Middle School.

Church Rummage Sale:

The Annual Rummage Sale / Bake Sale at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 20 Summit Street, Burnsville, NC, will be held Saturday April 29, 2017 from 8:00am til noon.

National Day of Prayer Observance

The National Day of Prayer Observance, A special time of prayer & music, praying for our nation, as well as our town & county & state, will be held Thursday May 4th at 12:00 noon and again at 6:30pm at the Riverside Park amphiteatre in Spruce Pine.    There will also be several days of prayer & repentance gatherings prior to the National Day of Prayer on Saturday April 29, Monday May 1, Tuesday May 2,  and Wednesday May 3 at 12:00 noon at Riverside Park leading up to the event.  For more information call 828-765-8789.

Scholarship Benefit Hot Dog & Hamburger Lunch

West Burnsville Church of God will host a hot dog and hamburger lunch directly after service on Sunday April 30, 2017. Dine in or take out. All donations will benefit fhe Chrisy McClure Ray Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Newdale Presbyterian Church will be having a 5th Sunday Night Meal and Singing Sunday April 30th beginning at 5:30pm.  All are welcome.

Methodist Women Host Imagine No Malaria Tea May 7th

To support the Imagine No Malaria campaign of the United Methodist Church, Bald Creek United Methodist Women will be hosting an Imagine No Malaria Tea on May 7 at 2:00 pm.Malaria was eliminated in the United States in the 1950‘s.  However, in Sub-Saharan Africa, malaria continues to kill a child every two minutes.  Imagine No Malaria works to improve the way people fight the disease and end preventable deaths by malaria. Come join the ladies of Bald Creek UMW for an afternoon of hats, tea and FUNdraising at Bald Creek United Methodist Church, 29 Bald Creek School Road, Burnsville.

Memorial Day Memorial Service

The American Legion Post 122 in cooperation with Faith Baptist Church on Highway 197 North in Burnsville NC will be hosting a community wide memorial service to honor our friends and family that made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our Country and our way of life.  The service will be held Sunday May 28th at 3:00PM at Faith Baptist Church.  Everyone in Yancey, Mitchell and Avery County are invited to join us for this service of remembrance. Full Gospel Food Pantry for Those In Need

The Full Gospel Food Pantry at South Toe Old Presbyterian Church will be open on Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00pm for those in need of food.  South Toe Old Presbyterian Church is located just past South Toe School Road. For more information call 284-0375.

The Full Gospel Food Pantry is asking for monetary dontations to help them buy the food from Manna Food Bank to help them feed hungry people in Yancey County.  Churches and individuals wishing to help with funding may send donations to Donna Randolph, Treasurer, P.O.
