Charity House Mission Homeless Shelter Seeks Donations

Charity House Mission, a homeless shelter located at the former D&R Furniture Store, is taking donations on Saturday frojm 9:00am-5:00pm.  Furniture, clothing and household items are needed.  Proceeds from sales from items will go to run the shelter.  The Resale Store is now open from 9:00am-5:00pm daily and Saturdays.

Memorial Scholarship for Citizens of Yancey County

The First Baptist Church of Burnsville is pleased to announce the beginning of the Doc and Ceci Ransom Memorial Scholarship for citizens of Yancey County. The scholarship was established by the Ransoms to assist residents seeking to further their education and who had documented financial need. (more)

In the spring of 2013, Pastor Tommy James challenged the congregation of First Baptist Church in Burnsville to rethink the church’s mission in the Burnsville community. The vacant lot next to the church, he told them, would be an ideal spot for a community garden. (more)

Revival with Rev. Ronald Thomas

Patterson Branch FWB Church will be in revival beginning on Sunday May 24th at 6pm and at 7pm the rest of the week.  Rev. Ronald Thomas will be preaching at the services with special singing nightly.  Pastor Cecil Hensley and the congregation welcome everyone.

Millers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, located down Cane River in the Egypt/ Ramseytown Community, will be in revival beginning Sunday May 24th at 7:00pm nightly.  Preaching will be Clyde Metcalf and Russell Hughes with special singing each night.  Everyone is welcome.

Ridgeview Church at Red Hill will have their 5th Sunday Night Singing Sunday May 31st at 6pm with The Hamptons from South Carolina and the Peterson's Chapel Choir. Everyone is welcome.

Church Yard Sale

Windom United Methodist Women will hold a yard sale on Saturday June 6th from 7:00am-11:00am in the Burnsville Western Sizzlin' parking lot.  It's a fundraisewr supporting the many local groups that the United Methodist Women support.

Men's "Press On" Event Featuring Former NFL Quarterback

Higgins UMC invites Men of all ages including our young teenage men to be part of their first Mens "Press On" event On June 6th with Roman Gabriel III, former quarterback for Oakland Raiders. He is host of Sold out sports talk, 200 stations nationwide and also brought us a television show viewed by over 100 million homes called "Sold out on Superbowl Sunday" with his theme of Faith, Family & Football. He is also an evangelist and president of the North Carolina Sold out Assembly on Drug & alcohol abstinence program. The Kick Off will be from 4-5pm with some tailgate games and registration then at 5pm, a BBQ meal from Bubbas Good Eats. Worship will follow, led by Marshall Huffman & message by Roman around 6:30 at Higgins UMC, located at 101 North Main Street in Burnsville. TICKETS will be $10 for whole event and can be picked up IN ADVANCE at Higgins. Full Gospel Food Pantry for Those In Need

The Full Gospel Food Pantry at South Toe Old Presbyterian Church will be open on Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00pm for those in need of food.  South Toe Old Presbyterian Church is located just past South Toe School Road. For more information call 284-0375.

The Full Gospel Food Pantry is asking for monetary dontations to help them buy the food from Manna Food Bank to help them feed hungry people in Yancey County.  Churches and individuals wishing to help with funding may send donations to Donna Randolph, Treasurer, P.O. Food Closet

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine is now offering a Food Closet, open the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 1:00pm-3:00pm for people in need.  For more information call 765-4966
