Disabled American Veterans Fundraiser


The Disabled American Veterans are doing a fundraiser to help purchase a van to transport veterans to the VA hospitals in Asheville and Johnson City. Wednesday Night "Live Jesus" Program


Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Scronce Creek Road will begin their "Wednesday Night Live Jesus Program" Wednesday August 27th from 6:30pm-8:00pm.  They meet every Wednesday night, unless school in Yancey County is closed.  Ages are preschool through high school.  Vans will run.  If you need transportation please call the church at 678-9389 and leave a message with your name and address.  Everyone is welcome.

Revival at Beans Creek Freewill Baptist

Stop Hunger Now Packaging Event


Another "Stop Hunger Now" packaging event will be held Saturday September 20th at 9:00am at Harris Middle School Gym.  Stop Hunger Now is a worldwide Hunger Ministry providing nutritionally sound, culturally appropriate, low cost meals to children through schools in third world countries.  The cost per meal is 25 cents including shipping.  Come be a part of this worthwhile Saturday morning putting meals together, alongside others, to go overseas, you won' t regret it.  This packaging event is sponsored by Spruce Pine Rotary and Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church.

Danny Boone Memorial Scholarship Cornhole Tournament

Special Meetings with Michael Kaylor


Plumtree Presbyterian is having special meetings with Michael Kaylor on Sunday, September 21 at 10:45am and 6:30pm.  Michael is the senior pastor of RiverGate Church, author, international conference speaker, and worship leader. He was the producer and host of the award winning show "For The Family". Michael is also a team leader and advisory member for Randy Clark's Global Awakening, and has been in ministry for forty years. He has recently authored "The Adventure of Supernatural Discovery." Although he had been in the moves of the Holy Spirit during the past few decades along side such as John Wimber, nothing prepared him for what happened to him on a ministry trip in Brazil. Several encounters with the reality of the fire and power of God and being taken to the presence of the Father in Heaven has changed the course and direction of his life and ministry forever. One of the remarkable results of these encounters has been the release of a gifting for impartation, healing and empowerment.

Toe River Christian Homeschoolers Fall Co-Op Class Session


The Toe River Christian Homeschoolers (TRCH) group is pleased to announce that their fall co-op class session will be held at the Burnsville Town Center starting in late September!  Their enrichment classes are open to homeschoolers in the Yancey and Mitchell County area for grades K-12. Fundraising Barbecue Dinner

Prayer Vigil for Imprisoned Pastor Saeed Abedini


On Friday September 26, 2014, the 2nd anniversary of Pastor Saeed Abedini's imprisonment, prayer vigils will be held to show a united global community calling for his release and an end to persecution of Christians around the world. Bakersville Baptist Church will be honoring James and Eloise Henline with an Open House Sunday October 5th from 2:00pm-4:00pm.  They have been wonderful citizens of Bakersville for many years, and as owners of Henline Hughes Funeral Home have served families in our community for 66 years.  Everyone who knows them and wants to come are invited.  Don't bring any gifts.  If motivated to give you may donate to the charity of your choice or to the church.

Fall Festival

Full Gospel Food Pantry for Those In Need


The Full Gospel Food Pantry at South Toe Old Presbyterian Church will be open on Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00pm for those in need of food.  South Toe Old Presbyterian Church is located just past South Toe School Road. For more information call 284-0375.
