Disabled American Veterans Fundraiser


The Disabled American Veterans are doing a fundraiser to help purchase a van to transport veterans to the VA hospitals in Asheville and Johnson City. Revival with Bro. B.P. Boyle


Sullins Branch Baptist Church in Spruce Pine will be in revival beginning Sunday August 31st at 4:00pm and continuing through the week at least through Wednesday and hopefully through the end of the week at 7:30pm.  Brother B.P. Wednesday Night "Live Jesus" Program


Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on Scronce Creek Road will begin their "Wednesday Night Live Jesus Program" Wednesday August 27th from 6:30pm-8:00pm.  They meet every Wednesday night, unless school in Yancey County is closed.  Ages are preschool through high school.  Vans will run.  If you need transportation please call the church at 678-9389 and leave a message with your name and address.  Everyone is welcome.

Church Yard Sale


Bald Creek United Methodist Women will be holding a yard sale Saturday September 6th from 8:00am-12 noon in the Fellowship Hall.  Proceeds will go to help with their mission work.

2nd Annual Fall Music Festival at High Pastures Retreat


The 2nd Annual Fall Music Festival will be held in the Amphitheater at High Pastures Saturday, Sept 6, from 2- 9 p.m.featuring ten (10) different groups/individuals, both local and from as far away as Atlanta and Nashville. It will be a time of worship and praise.  The festival is free, and there will be a barbeque dinner for a price of $10.

Summit Student Ministries Kick Off Celebration


Summit Student Ministries Kick Off Celebration will be held Saturday, September 6th from 4 to 7PM at Riverside Park in Spruce Pine.  All adults and students are invited to join us as we celebrate the official beginning of Summit Student Ministries under the leadership Minister to Students Meredith Hinton.  The evening events will include music, lawn games, dinner, and worship.  The speaker for the kick-off will be one of the funniest guys in youth ministry Reverend Andy Lambert.  Details about upcoming Summit events, location of meetings, and other information will be made available at the kick-off.  Bring your friends, your appetite, and get ready to celebrate!  Summit Student Ministries is a cooperative Ministry of 9 congregations of the United Methodist Church in Mitchell, Yancey and Avery Counties.

Yancey Baptist Association Campground Gospel Sing with "Soul Vision"

Jacks Creek Baptist Church Homecoming


On Sunday September 7th, Jacks Creek Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming and decoration day.  All former members, friends and visitors are invited to attend.  Sunday school will begin at 10:00am, preaching will begin at 11:00am, and will be followed by a covered dish lunch in the Fellowship Building. Stop Hunger Now Packaging Event


Another "Stop Hunger Now" packaging event will be held Saturday September 20th at 9:00am at Harris Middle School Gym.  Stop Hunger Now is a worldwide Hunger Ministry providing nutritionally sound, culturally appropriate, low cost meals to children through schools in third world countries.  The cost per meal is 25 cents including shipping.  Come be a part of this worthwhile Saturday morning putting meals together, alongside others, to go overseas, you won' t regret it.  This packaging event is sponsored by Spruce Pine Rotary and Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church.

Toe River Christian Homeschoolers Fall Co-Op Class Session


The Toe River Christian Homeschoolers (TRCH) group is pleased to announce that their fall co-op class session will be held at the Burnsville Town Center starting in late September!  Their enrichment classes are open to homeschoolers in the Yancey and Mitchell County area for grades K-12. Full Gospel Food Pantry for Those In Need


The Full Gospel Food Pantry at South Toe Old Presbyterian Church will be open on Saturdays from 9:00am-12:00pm for those in need of food.  South Toe Old Presbyterian Church is located just past South Toe School Road. For more information call 284-0375.
