Richard L. Honeycutt

Richard Lee Honeycutt, 80, of Coxes Creek passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation.

A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Ottis and Ella J. Ogle Honeycutt.  He was also preceded in death by brothers:  Carroll and Glen Honeycutt.

Richard was a retired truck driver and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He enjoyed taking care of his horse, his dog and trading guns and knives at the flea market.

Surviving are his wife:  Doris McPeters Honeycutt; a daughter:  Sindy Patchin, of Concord; a son:  Carroll Honeycutt, and wife Jill, of Green Mountain; a brother: Newland Honeycutt, of West Palm Beach, Florida; 4 grandchildren:  Amber Murphy, of Indian Trail, Lauren Evans, and husband Bobby, Emily Platt, and husband Casey and Justin Honeycutt, all of Green Mountain; 3 great grandchildren: Addyson and Peyton Evans and Camdyn Platt; a step daughter:  Pat Fox, and husband Zeb; and step son: Jeff Hilemon, all of Micaville.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Honeycutt Cemetery on Coxes Creek.

The family will receive friends 12 noon until 2PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
