Rotary Club of Spruce Pine Receives Two Awards

On June 20-21, President Janie DeVos, Rotary Club of Spruce Pine, and Rotarian Glen DeVos attended the Rotary District 7670 Conference in Greenville, SC. At the conference the Rotary Club of Spruce Pine won two awards. One was the Presidential Citation/Governor’s Club of Excellence Award. Secondly, and most prestigious, Spruce Pine won the Rotary Club Central Award, a very significant award that was awarded by Ron Burton, Rotary International President. The club won this award for “...setting strategic goals to ‘Engage Rotary, Change Lives’ this year, and in years to come.” As the Rotary International motto this year was “Engage Rotary, Change Lives,” it was apparent to those who decided this award that Spruce Pine Rotary had succeeded in doing this with the projects undertaken by the club. Out of around 50 clubs in the district, only 4 or 5 were given this award of distinction. President Janie says, “So, congratulations to all of you! You did our club proud, yet again!”
