Details: Samuel Carson Vance, Jr. died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his residence.
Born on October 2, 1946 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Samuel Carson Vance, Sr. and the late Martha Shuford Vance. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Medal of Valor. He was a Global Tire Sales Manager and was an entrepreneur with many talents and interests. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Samuel C. Vance is survived by his daughter; Ashley Hutoka of Baltimore, MD; his adopted son; Zane Vance of Orlando, FL; his brother; Curtis Vance and wife, Lois of Rutherfordton; his sisters; Jeannette Jordan of Newnan, GA and Patricia Stroud and husband, Jimmy of Sharpsburg, GA; his nephews and niece; James Dax Jordan of Ashburn, VA; Jenifer J. Mayers of Flower Mound, TX; James Andrew Stroud of Tyrone, GA; Jonathan David Stroud of Senoia, GA; Jason Vance of Chattanooga, TN; and Josh Vance of Forest City, TN.
The funeral services for Samuel C. Vance, Jr. will be conducted on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s. David Stroud and Dax Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
