Second Annual Memorial Service and Reception for Pregnancy & Infant Loss

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. October 15th of every year is National
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. This is a special day to honor and acknowledge babies lost to miscarriage, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy, prematurity complications, newborn death, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome-SIDS, illness, accidents and other tragic causes.  As a way for families who have lost a baby to remember their little ones in October, several community
agencies and families are planning our Second Annual Memorial Service and Reception for Sunday, October 7, at 3pm in the Community Room at the Yancey County Public Library. Families are encouraged to bring pictures or mementos to be placed on a table in honor of their child during the service. There will also be a video presentation as part of the service. Families may email a picture of their child or other memento to Kristine.wiles@trhd.dst.nc.us for the video presentation.  The agencies helping plan this event are Mitchell-Yancey Partnership for Children, Parent to Parent Family Support Network of the High County, Hospice of Mitchell County, Toe River Health District and Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. Families from Mitchell and Yancey Counties who have lost a baby are encouraged to participate. Please contact Sylvia at 765-5130 or 682-0717 if you have questions or are unable to attend and wish your baby to be acknowledged. In addition, please light a candle at 7:00pm on October 15th so that a continuous light will shine around the world in remembrance of our precious babies—gone too soon.
