Settlement Reached in 2013 Hotel Deaths

As of Monday, January 22nd a tentative settlement for the wrongful death and injury lawsuits brought against the Boone Best Western hotel for the death of an 11year old  boy has been reached. The families of Jeffrey Williams and his mother Jeannie Williams have agreed to a $12 million settlement with the hotel chain and other parties. Jeffrey Williams died from carbon monoxide leaking from a an indoor swimming pool’s water heater and exhaust system. His mother, Jeannie Williams, suffered serious injuries. Daryl and Shirley Jenkins, a couple from Washington State had died in the same room six weeks earlier, but officials didn’t immediately identify carbon monoxide as the cause of the deaths. The family of the Jenkins reached a settlement of $4.5 million last fall
