A large storm that swept across the Southern States and into Western North Carolina moved quickly through the area early this morning. French Broad Electric reported about 40 to 50 power outages from the storm. Duke Energy had over 130,000 outages across North and South Carolina.
The storm dropped several inches of rain in some areas. Early this morning some roads were closed before the high water receded. Several roads were also temporally closed from falling trees and mud slides.
Strong winds are expected to be in the forecast through late this afternoon.
