WKYK and WTOE web sites are now combined on the domain name www.OurLocalCommunityOnline.com
The move to the new hosting package was necessary because of the increased use of the web sites. The new location should be able to provide the bandwidth required during high usage times. Most of the content from both sites was provided by WKYK and WTOE radio. Because of the overlap in coverage by both of these radio stations a lot of the information was duplicated on the separate web sites wtoe.com and wkyk.com. The new combined web site will soon contain all of the information from the separate web sites plus more. The new style will allow for expanded growth in the future with more pictures, audio and video. From any internet computer you can type www.wkyk.com or www.wtoe.com in the address browser to access this site. Listed below are some of the new features of the new site.
* An Enhanced "Search" (Tip... put quotations marks around the item you are looking for to find an exact phrase)
* Local Weather from multiple locations with more of your favorite locations coming soon.. (let us know where you like to get your weather)
* Enhanced Closings and Alerts
* Web forms.. like "Email Photos" and "Opinions" that allow you to comment from any computer without using an email program.
* "Listen Live" for quick access to "On Air Audio" from 940-WKYK and 1470-WTOE (click a logo and your windows computer should open media player and start the audio stream.
* "Front pictures" with 4 separate thumbnails for selecting the large picture. (This has the ability to be connected to a media gallery with more pictures or to an article with more details. Click on the large picture.. if there's more to see it will show up.
* The "Community", "Schools" and "Business" sections will lead you to pages with more information on each of those areas. On the home page... the information under "Community" is a window displaying the first item on the "Community" page. "Schools" and "Business" also works the same way. To access these sections click on the headings "Community", "Schools". or "Business".
* Another new feature on the new web site is the "Information Center" and "Latest Updates". The "Information Center" tab will be displayed when you access the home page. All of the items listed are links to more information. The "Latest Updates" will become everyone's favorite way to find out what has recently changed or been added to the web site. After clicking the "Latest Updates" tab you can click on any of the items listed to go directly to that informaton.
* Enhanced "Area Events" with a calendar section. The "Area Events" page lists all of the events on one page. The calendar automatically opens to the events of today displayed below the calendar. You can click on any date of any month to display all of the events for that day. Since there are so many events on this page it is handy to remember that holding the control button (ctrl) on your keyboard and then pushing "F" (for find) will bring up a small box where you can search for any word on the page... even the portion of the page that you can't see. You can also select the "Submit a Calendar Event" at the top of the calendar to send information that you would like to have included. (items are added as soon as possible)
* Under "About Us" click on one of the logos to find more detailed information about the radio stations.
