Election Date Information


The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail will be October 28th 5:00 pm.
Registration books close for the 2014 General Election on October 10th at 5:00 pm. If you are not registered or need to change a name or address you will need to do so by October 10th at 5:00pm. 
One stop for the 2014 General Election will begin on October 23rd and run through November 1st at 1:00 pm.

Early Voting


Voters can begin casting ballots in the General Election 2014 at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.  Early voting concludes at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1. 

Early voting in Yancey County will be held at the Board of Elections office located at 6 South Main Street in the Burnsville Town Center. Hours of voting will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 23 to Oct. 24. Hours for Oct. 25 are from 8 a.m. until noon, and will resume on Monday Oct. 27. Hours for Oct. 27 to Oct. 30 are from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 31. Voters can cast their ballots on November 1 from 7 am till 1 p.m.

Mitchell County early voting will be held at two locations, the courthouse and the old Spruce Pine Town Hall. Hours for voting in Spruce Pine are from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Oct. 23-24-, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 27-31 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 1. One-Stop voting will take place at the courthouse in Bakersville are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 23, 8 a. m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 24, 9 a. m. to noon on Oct. 25, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct.27, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct.28-30, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct 31 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov.1.
