Wildflower Presentation & Stroll
The North Carolina High Peaks Trail Association has a couple of wildflower themed events planned for Saturday April 27th. Scott Dean, a noted specialist in the flora and fauna of the southern Appalachians, will do a presentation about early spring flowers in our area at 1:00pm at the Yancey County Public Library. After the presentation the group will travel by public transportation to the Dorothy Thomas Memorial Trail along Blue Rock Road off of Highway 80 South for a wildflower stroll. The presentation at the library is free, but a $10 suggested donation is requested to attend the stroll and is by reservation only. To make a reservation for the stroll or get more information call Cynthia Blood at 678-0755.
