Details: Willie “Gene” Evans of Jacks Creek, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 21st at his home.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of Bill Evans of Burnsville and the late Hattie Silvers. Gene was a US Army veteran. He was a retired employee of Bombardier, an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and a friend to all.
Surviving, in addition to his father, are his long time loving companion: Carla Manis of the home; 2 daughters: Andrea McKinney and husband, Chris, of Spruce Pine and Misty Evans of Burnsville; 5 grandsons: Seth and Justin Hughes, Daulton, Branden and Blaid Buchanan; a great grandson: Kaysen Buchanan; and, 2 sisters: Linda Wykle of Greeneville, TN and Pam Rathburn of Morganton.
Funeral services will be held at 3PM Wednesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. G E Freeman and Pete Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Evans Family Cemetery with military honors by Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter 57 DAV.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
