Details: Willie Lou Proffitt Bailey, age 85, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2012 at the Yancey House. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Basha King Proffitt and wife of Handy Bailey who passed away in 2010. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Soyna Bailey Ayers who passed away in 2001 and a brother, Sam Lee Proffitt. She was a member of West Burnsville Church of God. Willie Lou was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, JoAnna Fender and husband, Edd, of Fletcher; 3 grandchildren: Tabitha Garland and husband, Randy, Brent Fender and wife, Michelle and Sean Fender; 4 great-grandchildren: Tyler Garland, Presleigh, Gracie and Dustie Fender.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, December 27th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Burial will be in the Proffitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 until 12 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.
