Yancey Neighborhood Watch Program

The Yancey County Sheriff’s Office will host meetings for a Neighborhood Watch Program in multiple districts beginning this Monday. The Neighborhood Watch meetings will be held at each district’s primary fire department.  The first meetings are Dec. 3 at 7pm at Burnsville VFD co-hosted by Burnsville Police Department, and at 7 pm at Newdale, West Yancey and Clearmont Fire Departments. Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that stresses education and common sense.  It teaches citizens how to help themselves and their communities by identifying and reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.  In addition, it provides citizens with the opportunity to make their neighborhoods safer and improve the quality of life. Sheriff Gary Banks encourages residents to attend these important Neighborhood Watch meetings.
