Yancey Sheriff Dept. Busts Indoor Grow Operation, Other Drug Arrests

Jeff Ronald Miller, 54 and Debbie Lyn Miller, 52 of 701 English Branch Road, Burnsville were arrested after a search warrant was executed on April 1, 2014 at their residence on English Branch Road. Deputies located a sophisticated in-door grow operation with a large amount of marijuana ready for use and approximately 100 plants growing inside of the residence.

Both subjects were arrested and charged with Manufacture of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana), Felony Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Maintain a dwelling for keeping and selling controlled substance (Marijuana), Trafficking Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sheriff Banks states that the street value of the marijuana to be approximately $80,000.

Bacchus Jeremy McCurry "BJ", 30 of 609 Bill Allen Branch Road, Burnsville was arrested in Yancey County after Detectives determined that McCurry traveled to South Carolina where he was witnessed purchasing 70 Oxycodone pills. McCurry returned to Yancey County where he was arrested and charged with one Felony Trafficking (Possessing) one Felony Trafficking (Transporting) Opium. Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule II (Oxycodone), Maintain a vehicle for keeping and selling controlled substance (Oxycodone), Possession of Schedule II (Oxycodone) and Possession of drug paraphernalia. McCurry bond was set at $50,000 secure.

James Brandon Gentry, 32 of 3875 Walnut Creek, Marshall, NC was arrested on March 26, 2014 after traveling to Yancey County from Madison County and selling pills to undercover informant. Gentry was charged with Sell and deliver of Schedule II (Hydrocodone), Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule II (Hydrocodone) and Possession of Schedule II (Hydrocodone) Gentry bond was set at $10,000.00 secure.

James Oliver Williams III, 21 of 11 Woodland Apartments, Burnsville was arrested on March 6, 2014 after selling marijuana to an undercover informant. Oliver was charged with Sell and deliver of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Maintain a dwelling for keeping and selling controlled substance (Marijuana), 2 counts of Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana) and Possession of drug paraphernalia. Oliver bond was set at $10,000.00 secure.

Bobby Lee Byrd Jr. 32 of 198 Mica Street, Spruce Pine, NC was arrested on March 11, 2014 after selling marijuana to an undercover informant. Byrd was charged with Sell and deliver of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana) and Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana). Byrd's bond set at $10,000.00 secure

Teri Greene Morris, 34 of 198 Mica Street, Spruce Pine, NC was arrested on March 11, 2014 after selling marijuana to an undercover informant. Morris was charged with Sell and deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule VI (Marijuana), Maintain a vehicle for keeping and selling controlled substance (Marijuana). Morris bond was set at $10,000.00 secure.

Brannigan Edward Honeycutt, 29 of 2019 Anterville Hwy. Anderson, South Carolina was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule II (Methamphetamine), Possession with intent to sell and deliver Schedule II (Methamphetamine), Maintain a vehicle for keeping and selling controlled substance (Methamphetamine), Carrying a concealed gun, Possession of drug paraphernalia and Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana). Honeycutt was found to be in possession of 14 grams of Methamphetamine.


Brian Eric Cole, 42 of 32 Mount Carmel Drive, Asheville, NC was stopped for speeding on April 4, 2014. After Deputy observed him attempting to hide marijuana he was arrested and charged with Aggravated Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and speeding 76 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Bond was set at $2,500.00 unsecure.
