The Classic Movie Club has selected for their July showing the 1946 MGM classic “The Yearling” Monday, July 23rd at 7:00pm at the Yancey Theatre. Based on the 1938 Marjorie Rawlins novel by the same name. “The Yearling” tells the story of a post civil war family and their struggle to survive in the Florida wilderness. It is also the story of their coming of age son “Jody” and his adopted mischievous pet deer “Flag”. The cast includes Jane Wyman, Gregory Peck, Chill Wills and Claude Jarman Jr. Filmed on location in Ocala Florida and shot in glorious technicolor “The Yearling” is a true classic in any sense of the word and one the whole family will enjoy. Also on the bill will be chapter seven of the 1939 classic serial “Daredevils Of The Red Circle”. Everyone is invited to join with the Classic Movie Club for the screening of these two treasures from the “Golden age of Hollywood”. Once again they will be presented on the big screen as they were intended to be shown.
