Yancey Informational Meetings to Apply for a Habitat Home
The Family Selection Committee of Mitchell-Yancey Habitat for Humanity is hosting two informational meetings for residents in Yancey County on Tuesday February 21st and Thursday February 23rd at 6:00pm at the Burnsville First Presbyterian Church at 120 Church Street in Burnsville. The meetings are for anyone interested in applying for a Habitat Home. Those attending will be assisted in applying for a house and become a Habitat Partner. In order to qualify, you must need adequate shelter, have a job or income to make house payments every month and be willing and able to work on your house as it it being built. Attendees should bring with them their most recent pay stubs and a copy of their most recent income tax return. You will be told of other information needed when you call for an appointment. Habitat Houses are built with volunteer labor and donations and are sold to Habitat Partner Families with no profit or interest added to the mortgage. This is for families who are able to make house payments of between $350 and $400 a month. You must attend one of these meetings in order to make an application.
