Funding to replace the gym floor and bleachers at Mitchell High School has been included in the capital outlay budget for the upcoming school year and work is expected to start soon. Associate superintendent Rick Spurling said three decades of sanding and resurfacing has made the floor surface beyond fixing. He added that the bleachers are broken down and potentially unsafe as well and the work should have been done several years ago. Spurling said that the school would go with the lowest bid for the project of just over $71,000 submitted by Floor Accent Inc. It is expected that the job should take about a month to finish.
