Air conditioning units are being targeted by metal thieves in McDowell County. More than a dozen have been stolen just in the past month in McDowell county. Detectives say they're hard to trace since units are taken apart and sold at scrap yards. Homes and businesses have both been targeted in the area.  Sunday and Monday, a total of five units were stolen from a vacant building off Hwy 221 South. Three suspects were arrested and charged with two counts of felony larceny. Deputies plan to increase  patrols to help crack down on thieves.
