Grant Status for Spaying/Neutering of Pets

The Yancey Humane Society has depleted grant money available for the spay/neuter of small dogs weighing 39 pounds or less.  The cost of spay/neuter for small dogs is now $50.00 per pet.  Grant money to fix large dogs (dogs weighing 40 pounds or more) is still available so you need to take advantage of FREE spay/neuter of large dogs now before funds are exhausted.  Grant money for cats and kittens is available, but, again, don't snooze or you'll lose out on this special offer for FREE spay/neuter of cats and kittens.  Your pets must be 12 weeks old and weigh at least 2.5 pounds.  If your pets are 4 months or older, a rabies vaccination is required at a cost of $6.00 per pet.  If your pet is current for the rabies vaccination, please bring proof of that vaccination with you when you sign up your pet for surgery.
The Animal Shelter off Cane River School Road is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from Noon to 5 p.m.  Saturdays Noon to 4 p.m.  Closed Wednesdays and Sundays.  If you have any questions, please call 682-9510 during hours open to the public.
