The Bridge on US 19E that bypasses downtown Spruce Pine was Closed down yesterday for repairs. The truck detour route is through Altapass to Halltown Road , to NC 226, and then return to US 19E. All other vehicles can detour through downtown Spruce Pine.  This closing brings a lot of congestion and heavy traffic through Spruce Pine and it’s going to be that way for a while. Unless there’s a change the bridge is scheduled to be closed through August 31st.
