Details:  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late David and Viola Jarrett. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Mona Lee Hughes and Reba Sneed. Eugene retired with Henredon and was a deacon at Bowditch Union Church. He loved watching his grandson, Cabel, play ball.
     Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Lou Etta Hilliard Jarrett; mother-in-law, Marie Hilliard, of Rice Road; a son, Chris Jarrett and wife, Andrea, of Rice Road and grandson, Cabel Jarrett; a sister, June Hammett of Marion and a brother, Dean Jarrett and wife, Jill, of Taylorsville; special friend and neighbor, Kenneth Briggs and several nieces and nephews also survive.
     Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31st at Bowditch Union Church. Rev. Jim Shoupe and his pastor, Rev. Ronnie Whitson will officiate. Burial will follow in the John Hilliard Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at Yancey Funeral Services. At other times, the family will be at the home.
